New Delhi | Jagran Trending Desk: Amid reports of cruelties with animals from parts of the country, a man named Imam Akhtar from Bihar, Patna, gave his entire property to two elephants, saying that they are like his children.
Akhtar Imam, the chief manager of the Asian Elephant Rehabilitation and Wildlife Animal Trust (AERAWAT), said he has been looking after elephants since the age of 12 and have even named them as Moti and Rani.
In an interview with news agency ANI, Imam said, "Animals are faithful, unlike humans. I've worked for the conservation of elephants for many years. I don't want that after my death my elephants are orphaned," He added, "the elephants are like his children and I cannot live without them."
On being asked the reason for transferring the land to the elephants Akhtar revealed that on many occasions the elephants Moti and Rani had saved him from attacks from local goons. He recalled a memory saying, "Once, there was murder attempt on me. At that time the elephants had saved me. When some people with pistols tried to enter my room my elephant alerted me and I was able to raise an alarm".
Imam also revealed his another reason for transferring the land to the elephants. He said that his son had allegedly filed a wrong case against him and also got him locked up. He eventually was let away after the charges levelled against him were proven wrong, as Imam’s wife and sons have been living away from him for the last 10 years due to some dispute in the family.
As soon as ANI shared this story on Twitter it is winning hearts on the internet. People dropped with sweet comments.

The heart-warming story comes amid continuing anger and grief over the death of a pregnant wild elephant last month after eating some substance mixed with explosives in Kerala's Palakkad.
The death of Kerala’s elephant incident brought the outrage on social media. The 15 year-old elephant had consumed a pineapple filled with powerful fire crackers which exploded in the animal's mouth in the Silent Valley Forest and it died about a week later on May 27. This brought the nationwide anger and outrage over the brutal killing of the elephant.
