Lowers stress levels: Research suggests that both men and women can equally benefit from hugs especially on days when conflict occurs. Researchers said that a hug can help lower stress after a conflict and have a positive effect on mood.

 

Lowers blood pressure: When you hug, touch or sit close to someone you love, your body releases oxytocin, which scientists call the ‘cuddle hormone’. This hormone can help relax and lower anxiety, which, in turn, can effectively lower blood pressure.

 

Boosts heart health: According to researchers, if a couple holds hands for 10 minutes followed by 20 seconds of hug, the result showed greater scaling down in blood pressure levels and heart rate than compared to romantic partners who sat in silence for 10 minutes and 20 seconds.
