According to media reports, Bhansali told the Mumbai Police that Sushant refused to work on the two big-budget films, ‘Goliyon Ki Raas Leela - Ram Leela’ and ‘Bajirao Mastani’, insisting that he never dropped Sushant. Bhansali further told the Mumbai Police that Sushant wanted to focus on Yash Raj Films Paani, directed by Shekhar Kapoor at that point in time.

Sushant Singh Rajput’s Death:
Sushant Singh Rajput had committed suicide on June 14 at his Bandra residence in Mumbai. According to reports, the 34-year-old was suffering from depression from the last six months. The police, meanwhile, had denied chances of foul play in his death and Rajput’s postmortem report of Rajput cited asphyxia due to hanging as the cause of his death.
The police, however, had said that will probe into the alleged cause of ‘clinical depression owing to the professional rivalry’ behind Rajput’s death. “Bandra police has recorded statements of 27 people so far in Sushant Singh Rajput's death case. We've got his detailed post-mortem report and doctors have clearly mentioned asphyxia due to hanging as cause of his death,” Maharashtra Deputy Commissioner of Police Abhishek Trimukhe had said earlier.
