New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: Reacting to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s unannounced visit to Ladakh, the epicentre of the recent stand-ff between India and China, Beijing on Friday said that “no party should engage in actions that escalate tensions”, reported news agency Reuters.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian said that talks between India and China are underway through military and diplomatic channels to resolve the border disputes.
"India and China are in communication and negotiations on lowering the temperatures through military and diplomatic channels," Lijian was quoted by Reuters as saying.
In a suprise visit, PM Modi arrived in Leh this morning where he interacted with personnel of the Army, Air Force and ITBP. He also visited one of the forward locations in Nimu which is located and 11,000 feet and is among the toughest terrains, on the banks of river Indus and surrounded by the Zanskar range.
The prime minister's visit to Ladakh comes days after the violent military face-off at Galwan Valley with Chinese troops that claimed the lives of 20 Indian soldiers.
Following the standoff, the two sides agreed for disengagement of troops in the disputed area. But the three rounds of commander-level talks to resolve the border dispute have failed to turn fruitful.
