New Delhi | Jagran Entertainment Desk: The nationwide lockdown to contain the Coronavirus pandemic, among other businesses, has shut down the shootings of the Bollywood films and TV shows, affecting thousands of daily-wage artists and off-screen workers in an unprecedented push against their livelihoods.
Recognizing the same crisis, superstar Hrithik Roshan has come to the rescue of about four thousand daily-wage artists who come under the umbrella of Cine and TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA). The ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ star has donated Rs 25 Lakh to Cine Artiste Welfare Trust [CAWT], a sister concern of CINTAA.
“A few days ago, KWAN, the talent management company that handles Hrithik, asked for our account details and promptly transferred Rs 25 lakh to our sister concern, Cine Artiste Welfare Trust [CAWT]. We will start distributing the money among the daily wagers, with those living hand-to-mouth being our top priority,” said Amit Behl, senior joint secretary and chairperson, outreach committee, CINTAA as quoted by Mid-Day.
Alongside helping to facilitate 1.2 lakh nutritious meals with Bengaluru based NGO Akshaya Patra for those who have been severely impacted due to the government imposed lockdown amid Covid-19 outbreak in the country, Hrithik has also procured N95 and FFP3 masks for the local municipality workers acting as frontline workers against coronavirus pandemic in the financial capital.
“In times such as these, we must do whatever we can to ensure the safety of the most fundamental caretakers of our city and society. I have procured N95 and FFP3 masks for our BMC workers and other caretakers...,” Hrithik Roshan had tweeted.

Actor Sushant Singh, the General secretary of CINTAA thanked his 'buddy' Hrithik for this contribution. The former 'Savdhaan India' presenter shared a still from film 'Lakshaya' to mark a gesture of thanks towards Mr. Roshan, he tweeted.

Superstar Salman Khan’s ‘Being Human’ has also pledged to financially support 25,000 daily wage workers from the film industry in the wake of the nationwide lockdown to contain the coronavirus pandemic, according to Federation of Western Indian Cine Employees (FWICE).
Earlier, Netflix-India had donated Rs 7.5 Crore to a relief fund set upon by Producer’s Guild of India for the daily wage earners in Indian entertainment industry.
