New Delhi | Jagran Sports Desk: Former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi receiving hate replies on social media after an old video of him emerged in which he admitted that he broke TV when he saw his daughter performing 'aarti' while watching an Indian show. The cricketer was asked by an Anchor if he has ever broken his TV-- which is quite common in Pakistan-- to which he replied. "Yes, I have broke the TV once. It was because of my wife. There were a lot of Star Plus dramas that were quite popular. I used to tell my wife to watch it alone and not let the kids watch."
He said that one day he entered the room and saw one his kids imitating aarti scene that got him extremely angry. "I looked at my daughter and then smashed the TV into the wall."
The video posted by a Twitter user went viral on social media. The post says, "Shahid Afridi, a cricketer with a cult following in Pakistan bragging about how he broke his TV because his wife was watching an Indian TV serial and trying to do Arati. Watch the anchor cackle like a hyena and see the audience applaud. This is Pakistan!"

Replying to the post, a user wrote, "This is isn't new. Have seen few Pakistani serial and telefilm where they showed the hate for other religion( specially Hindu) and India. I remember one character was applauding Indian serial Nagin and other was scolding him saying 'Aj serial dekh raha he kaal Ram Ram karega'."
"Medieval mindset people are in big positions there in Pakistan, the attitudes are proofs!" added another user.
The news comes amid the ongoing protest over Citizenship Amendment Act that aims to provide Indian citizenship to minorities-- except Muslims-- residing in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh who fled the country to prevent religious persecution.
