New Delhi | Jagran Sports Desk: Pace Spearhead Jasprit Bumrah on Friday became the highest wicket-taker in the shortest version of the game after scalping a wicket in the opening over of the third T20I held between India and Sri Lanka at MCA Stadium, Pune. He reached the feat by getting Sri Lanka opener D Gunathilaka caught out to Washington Sundar at mid-on of the last delivery. The 25-year-old surpasses Y Chahal and R Ashwin who have 52 wickets in T20I formats for India. Bumrah now has 53* wickets in 44 matches for Men in Blues in T20Is.

Chahal, who is also playing the contest will also be eyeing to emerge as the highest-wicket taker in T20I format for team India. In the match, Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to field first. In reply, India scored 201/6 in the stipulated 20 overs. Openers KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan slammed 54 and 52 runs respectively. Skipper Kohli contributed 26 runs while Manish Pandey and Shardul Thakur added 31 and 22 runs. Lakshan Sandakan was the pick of the bowlers for Sri Lanka. The chinaman bowler picked three wickets giving away just 35 runs in his four overs.

In reply, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 123 runs in just 15.5 overs. Dhananjay de Silva was the top scorer with 57 runs. Ajantha Mendis also contrinuted 31 runs while other batsmen failed to paly a part in the series decider. Saini scalped three wickets while Thakur and Sundar picked two wickets each. As a result, India won third t20 series in a row at home, completing 2-0 whitewash over the island nation. The Men in Blue will next feature against Australia on January 14 (Tuesday).
