The wicket-keeper batsman replaced Rishabh Pant in the eleven. As he was included in the playing, Twitterati took to the micro-blogging site to share their thoughts. Take a look at some of them:

A user wrote, "Best thing to happen in 2020 so far is... Sanju Samson IN Pant OUT."

In the previous series, he had received a rousing reception from crowd in Kerela T20I (last T20I)against West Indies last month despite not being a part of playing eleven.

In the match, Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to bat first. They are lagging 0-1 behind in the series and need to win the contest to avoid consecutive whitewash. They had previously lost to Australia 3-0.
