New Delhi | Jagran Sports Desk: After the washout of the first T20I, India and Sri Lanka will hope that rain gods stay away in the second T20I scheduled to take place at Holkar Stadium, Indore on Tuesday. Only toss could play a part on Sunday at Guwahati's Baraspara Cricket Ground before rain gods came in and left damp spots on the pitch, forcing the game to be called off without a ball being bowled.

Like Guwahati, the team management and other Indian cricket fans would focus on comeback of India's pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah who is making a return to international cricket after four months. The series is also important for the opening batsmen Shikhar Dhawan, who is making a comeback after a knee injury that he sustained during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. The left-hand batsman was not at his absolute best in T20I series against Bangladesh and faced criticism from several quarters.

Shardul Thakur and Navdeep Saini will need to prove themselves if they want to be part of the squad in the longer run while Washington Sundar needs to pull his socks and put up performances to ensure he will be part of the upcoming World T20 in October.

For Sri Lanka, Angelo Mathews will make his return to the national side having last played a T20I against South Africa in August 2018. In the last T20I series Sri Lanka were whitewashed by Asutralia failing in all three departments.

India and Sri Lanka have faced each other in 17 T20Is, out which India have won 11 while SL has managed just six wins. If Sri Lanka wins the match on Tuesday, they can't lose the series. They have never beaten India in a bilateral T20I series.
