New Delhi | Jagran Sports Desk: Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the only captain in the world of cricket to win all the ICC trophies, turned 39 on Tuesday. Dhoni is known for his approach and is widely regarded as of the greatest players to play the game ever. Dhoni, who turned 39 on Tuesday, has led India to lot of memorable victories, including the 2007 T20 World Cup, 2011 ODI World Cup, 2013 ICC Champions Trophy and the 2008 CB series victory. Dhoni has captained the Indian cricket team in 332 international matches, winning 178 games.

The “Captain Cool” of the Indian cricket team, who is regarded as one of the best wicket-keepers of the world, was showered with birthday wishes by his fans and admirers on social media as he turned 39. Several cricketers also took to twitter to wish the veteran Indian wicket-keeper batsman on his birthday.

His long-time partner and former Indian opener Virendra Sehwag wished him a very happy birthday while calling him a “once in a generation player”. “Once in a generation, a player comes and a nation connects with him, think of him as a member of their family, kuch bahut apna sa lagta hai. Happy Birthday to a man who is the world ( Dhoni-ya ) for his many admirers,” Sehwag tweeted.

Former Indian batsman VVS Laxman also wished him a very happy birthday and said, “Many more happy returns of the day to a man whose composure and patience continues to be an inspiration”.

Suresh Raina, who shares a special bond with Dhoni, called Mahi his ‘favourite human’ while wishing him a very happy birthday. “Here's wishing a very Happy Birthday to one of my favorite human, brother & a leader I could ever ask for! The man who has always played with his mind and heart. His Captaincy has not just been successful because of his decisions but also because of his faith in every member of his team! So to our Special No. 7, who made winning as a habit. Thank you for all the inspiration @mahi7781 Bhai,” he said while sharing a video on Instagram.

Not just Indian cricketers but many foreign players also wished Dhoni a very happy birthday. Waqar Younis, the legendary Pakistani pacer, said Dhoni is a 'champion' who has won two World Cup titles for his country. He heaped lavish praise on former Indian captain and revealed that Dhoni has indeed done a tremendous job in carrying forward the momentum of the team that started during the era of Sourav Ganguly.

"Sourav Ganguly was the one who started that journey of improvement for Indian cricket and MS Dhoni took that journey ahead. He is a World Cup champion and has won two World Cups. I think he has done wonderfully well for himself, for his country and of course, for his family," Younis said while speaking exclusively to GloFans during chat show 'Q20' on Twitter.    

West Indies all rounder Dwayne Bravo, who played under the captaincy of Dhoni for Chennai Super Kings (CSK), also took to Instagram to pay tributes to Mahi and released his "helicopter song".

"So the wait is over!! @mahi7781 you're truly a great inspiration to a lot of ppl around the world. As we get ready to celebrate you birthday, on behalf of my team, my fans and your fans we wish you gods blessings. the helicopter is off," Bravo wrote on social media while sharing the song with Dhoni fans.

Dhoni has been one of India’s most successful captain. Under his captaincy, India won the inaugural edition of the ICC T20 World Cup in 2007 and ODI World Cup in 2011. In 2013, Dhoni led to his side to triumph the ICC Champions Trophy and became the only captain in the history of cricket to win all major ICC trophies.
