New Delhi | Jagran Sports Desk: The Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) on Sunday announced the senior men's team squad for the upcoming One Day International (ODI) series against South Africa. The 15-member squad will be led by Virat Kohli.
Vice Captain Rohit Sharma has been rested while opener Shikhar Dhawan and all-rounder Hardik Pandya have returned to the squad. Senior seam bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar also returned to the Indian side for three match ODI series against South Africa post recovery from hernia surgery.
Hardik Pandya underwent a surgery after suffering a lower-back injury five months ago while Dhawan suffered a shoulder injury in an ODI series against Australia at home. Hardik has been in devastating form since returning to competitive cricket in the DY Patil T20 tournament, where he hit 158 off 55 balls the other day.
The three ODIs between India and South Africa will be played on March 12, March 15 and March 18 at Dharamshala, Lucknow and Kolkata respectively.
South Africa has already announced its squad for the upcoming series against India. The squad, which includes 16 members, will be led by wicket-keeper batsman Quinton de Kock.
The Proteas 23-year-old opening batsman Janneman Malan. He had made a strong case for inclusion when he scored a match-winning 129 not out in the second match against Australia in Bloemfontein on Wednesday.
"Proteas opening batsman, Janneman Malan has been included into the team's ODI tour to India. They will now travel with a 16-man squad for the three-match series taking place in Dharamshala, Lucknow and Kolkata," Cricket South Africa said.
