Today, our main focus is on stock markets that witnessed a dip after one week on Tuesday. The benchmark Sensex fell by up to 300 points in Tuesday's trade after Infosys fell over 16 per cent following allegations on its CEO and CFO of unethical practices. The gold prices have also saw a drop of 0.3 per cent on Tuesday. It is likely to remain low ahead of Dhanteras.

Here is how the markets opened today:

The benchmark Sensex closed 94 points high to end at 39,058 points while the broader 50 share Nifty added 15 points to 11,604 points. 

HCL Tech was the top gainer in the Sensex pack, rising 2.93 per cent, ahead of its quarterly results. Maruti Suzuki, SBI, HDFC and Hero MotoCorp gained up to 2.55 per cent. Infosys rebounded 1.16 per cent after a massive sell-off in the previous session following a whistleblower complaint, reported PTI.

Nifty: 11,604

Rupee: 70.93 per USD (3 paise high)

Brent crude: USD 59.19 per barrel (0.85 per cent down)

Here is how the markets opened today:

The S&P Sensex opened in negative territory for the second consecutive day. It opened 3 points low but recovered to trade on a flat note. At 10.03 am, the Sensex was trading 1 point high to 38,964. Nifty, on the other hand, was completely flat at 10.04 pm to 11,589 points. The equity markets are expected to gain following optimism over the US-China trade war. Meanwhile, Rupee slipped 9 paise to 71.03 per USD.

The fuel price also continued to be flat as petrol prices witnessed no changes while Diesel prices dipped 6 paise per litre.

Rs 76.04 in Chennai, Rs 73.22 in Delhi, Rs 78.83 in Mumbai and Rs 75.87 in Kolkata

Brent crude, the global oil benchmark, dipped by 0.29 per cent on Wednesday.

Brent crude: USD 59.42 per barrel

Gold and silver prices, however, shot up by 0.43 per cent to Rs 38,043 per 10 grams of pure gold, silver prices too rose by 0.54 per cent to Rs 45418 per kg.

Silver: Rs 45418
